A rose by any other name

Amie: I want to taste your name.
Me: *blink blink* You want to taste my name?
Amie: Yeah, I don't like it.
Me: *blink blink* Ohhhh, change my name. Uh, okay. What to?
Amie: To...Aunty Cathy! *laughs*
Me: You can't change it to that, that's already Aunty Cathy's name.
Amie: But I like it! It's different.
Me: But she's already using it. You'll need to pick something else.
Amie: Um...Aunty 'Nisey.
Me: Alrighty then.

June 2011

Amie: I want to go to a museum with statues made of people.
Me: They're made of wax, honey. Not people. There's a difference.

This was brought on by an episode of Paddington Bear where he went to a wax museum. My child doesn't really want to see corpses dismembered and turned into art. I hope.

Or would she...?

May 2011

Amie just asked why do I only have one kid. I told her that's all I'm lucky enough to have just yet, but maybe I'll have more one day. She wants me to hurry up with that.

She asked me to take her photo, and then posed like this. The flower was her reward for being so brave while getting vaccinated.

April 2011

We're making cheats cookies today (from a roll of cookie dough we bought this week), and I asked Amie if she'd like to help make the cookies. "Of course!" she says. I hand her some dough...and she promptly eats it. Apparently her definition of helping means eating as much cookie dough as possible.

The icing is the best part.

March 2011

6th
Amie requested 5 books at bedtime tonight, then quickly upped it to 100. She'd already had her story by then, so she settled for 100 kisses, but we only got up to around 45 before she'd had enough.

February 2011

While it's nice to have your kids think you can do anything, sometimes they ask for a bit too much. We were blowing bubbles, and Amie asked me to make some horse and square shapes. Hmm...I don't think so!

 I'm crazy about her curls.

January 2011

1st
Amie insists on calling the Wii nunchuks "nukkas". "I can't play bowling, it's got a nukka in!"

11th
Amie's learning a lot more about flooding and emergencies now than I had planned on.
(this was due to the floods that devastated the north and south sides of our city)

***

I have some cupcakes leftover from the weekend, and I've just noticed that Amie's gone through and licked off all the icing on the mini cupcakes she could get her hands on. Cheeky devil.

What? You mean this isn't how you wear them?
