We're making cheats cookies today (from a roll of cookie dough we bought this week), and I asked Amie if she'd like to help make the cookies. "Of course!" she says. I hand her some dough...and she promptly eats it. Apparently her definition of helping means eating as much cookie dough as possible.
The icing is the best part.
2nd
Amie didn't want to stay in her bed tonight, and wanted to sleep in mine with me. Her reason? Because her bed is dead.
Call me crazy, but in a bed, that's a good thing!
3rd
Watching some documentary on Marines training at the beach, and Amie wants to know if they'll stop to make sandcastles.
I would so love to see that happen.
***
Amie didn't want to watch George of the Jungle until I told her it had gorillas in it. Then she insisted we watch it.
Playing around on her cousin Ryan's guitar.
She made it sound so pretty.
Amie got her revenge! She was up before me today, but I didn't know that, so when I came stumbling out of my room she leapt out of the bathroom and roared at me. Scared the pants off of me!
Opening her birthday presents. Much Mario and Donkey Kong goodness was had.
9th
Amie: I lost my fire power. I got shrunk by a Goomba.
She wasn't playing Super Mario at the time :)
10th
Amie: *farts loudly* Ah! My fart scared me!
The birthday girl!
Amie asked me four times today if it was her birthday yet. I wonder if she thinks I have the ability to manipulate time.
On her Big Girl Bike!
16th
One of the first things Amie asked me this morning (after waking me way too early) was how many days it was until her birthday now. I ended up making a shoddy calendar for counting down the days and told her to cross off one box each night before bed.
***
Amie wants me to knit her a pink scarf. And this is AFTER she's seen the other scarves I've made.
At her party, I invited everyone to dip their hands in paint and put their handprints on this canvas. I thought it would make a nice memento of the day. It's now up on display in her room.
18th
After pulling a great move while playing Super Mario 3:
Me: Is mummy good, or is she good?
Amie: Mummy is faaaaaabulous!
Gotta love her :D
Her 4 year old shot. I took monthly photos for the first 12 months, then every 6 months until she was 3, and now we'll just do yearly.
You can see the larger version here.
21st
Oh dear god. This child. She's lying on the couch watching music videos and just asked me this out of the blue:
Amie: What do I need boobies for?
She's figured out what her nose is for, at least.
***
Amie is very very very excited for her birthday party on Saturday. She stil wants me to make time go faster.
I was quite surprised how she was able to cram herself into this box. I nearly broke a rib laughing at the process.
22nd
Amie just went for a walk with Doug, and they had this conversation:
Amie: I wonder what my big kids name will be?
Doug: it'll be Amie.
Amie: But i've got red hair
She needs to go to monkey school to figure out how to use the monkey bars properly.
23rd
Oh dear, I just walked in on Super Mario and Diddy Kong kissing.
***
Lauren wanted to know if we'd established what boobies were for (from my post the other day), so she asked Amie.
Lauren: Amie, what are boobies for?
Amie: For feeding babies.
Lauren: Do you want a baby?
Amie: Nah, not for dinner.
Me: o_O
***
Amie: Am I four now?
Me: Yes you are!
Amie: Can I go by myself now?
Me: Go by yourself where?
Amie: To the train station!
Me: No.
Amie: Aww man.
Balancing is one of her favourite activities. When she's not farting or talking about bums, that is.
25th
I woke up from a nap not too long ago to Amie telling me her "handle fell of her big gold bag", which really, really confused me, as she doesn't have any bags like that. After a few minutes I was able to translate it into being her "pedal fell off her big girl's bike" instead. Right. That makes a lot more sense.
You can't just walk along the path when there are rails to climb!
26th
Aww, Amie made me breakfast today! She wanted me to do something for me though I was barely awake, so I told her I hadn't had breakfast yet. She tottered off to do something else (so I thought), when I heard a noise and I couldn't figure out what it was. There she is in the kitchen, with a bowl, a spoon, and pouring Weetbix into the bowl (it was the end of the bag, so pouring it was easier). I helped her with the honey and poured the milk (she only pours it if the bottle is half full or less) and then she carried it to my desk. What a sweetie :)
Anything that can be climbed, will be climbed.
***
Amie's watching Doug play his game, giving good advice like "don't go there!" and chanting "ginger ninja" over and over :P
***
Haha, I just freaked Amie out. She wanted a kids show, so I was flicking through them, and found the Super Mario Bros cartoon. She hid under the coffee table in surprise, but is now giggling so I think she likes it.
Mum made a Princess Amie version of the Leia doll, though Amie often insists on calling her Princess Peach or Toadstool.
27th
I am now even more awesome in Amie's eyes, because I recorded the Donkey Kong show for her to watch this morning. Donkey Kong AND Super Mario tv shows? This kid is in heaven.
***
You might want to avoid going skydiving with Amie. She insists on calling it dieskiving...which doesn't sound fun.
The marble run: a nail biting event!
28th
Scene: Lying in my bed this morning, Amie playing with my phone. I lightly and playfully smack her bottom.
Me: I can smacky smack your bottom because you're still wearing a nappy (note: just for overnight use)
Amie: (still playing Angry Birds) Don't smack my bottom, it's dangerous.
Me: Why is it dangerous?
Amie: It might blow up.
Can't fight that logic! That's one area we don't want blowing up :P
29th
Newsflash: Amie said she no longer likes her house and will stay in the yard instead. Maybe I should buy her a dog kennel...
***
Sometimes, I swear Amie is British. Hearing her say "oh bova" instead of "oh bother" cracks me up.
***
I just tried teaching Amie the Macarena.
If I'd had some wine that probably wouldn't be so embarrassing to admit :P
***
Amie just made me re-enact the carriage ride with me (we were watching the royal wedding). She was Princess Peach, and said I was the queen. I asked her what my queen name was, and she told me I was the Queen Dog.
Hear that, people? I'm the Queen Bitch.
She wanted to be a princess, so donned her high heels and tiara. That's all it takes, apparently.
30th
Amie found a Christmas gift tag and put it on my boob, telling me it was going to be a birthday present. I don't know who for, but someone's getting lucky by the looks of it!
