If you were a dragon, you'd be trembling in your scales!
One of the other toys she found was her unicorn, which she realised went very well with her knight in shining armour set. She did at first use a stuffed unicorn, but he was too small to ride around on properly, though it was much more amusing.
It's tough work being a kid!
The dress ups have continued, with a renewed interest in fairies, thanks to watching The Fairies on DVD again. And again. She's not just watching them, though, she's doing her best to copy their dance moves and sing along, which is a joy to watch. She's getting pretty good at them, too!
Amie really is a very sweet and considerate child, and she decided that I too needed a delivery like her. So she filled up the box that held her mattress and filled it with toys, before delivering it to my room...where she set about building me a new bed!
She takes the "build a bear" idea somewhat literally.
She carefully arranged all her toys together in the shape of a bed for me (though I forgot to get a picture of that), which I thought was very sweet indeed.
Fairy skirts are great for spinning.
We went shopping today to pick some new sheets for her bed, and after much consideration, chose white with butterflies. I admit to wanting to have all sorts of extremely cute sheets for her (such as these ones, but the shipping is a killer!), but we've got plenty of time to have that collection grow. While we were out, we found a doctor's kit set for $3, which will top up her current doctor's kit nicely, as some of the pieces in that are broken.
She does often tell me she wants to be a doctor when she grows up (though right now it's a doctor-nurse-rock star who's on TV), and she does love to give check ups and will operate if needed. Some of her favourite operations are animal removals, where the patient has accidentally eaten a live cat, dog, elephant...pretty much any animal around. She'll chop into you, remove it and glue you back together lickety split.
It was my turn for a check up with Dr Amie today, and I'm glad to say I eventually got a clean bill of health. Apart from the surprise C-section (it was a beautiful baby girl she insists we call Puddles), and the dozen or so injections I got for my fever, it went smoothly.
Me, worried? Naaah.
On second thoughts...she seems to be attacking me with that thing!
I'm not sure why I, the patient, had to wear the glasses, but who argues with the doctor? She used the bag the set came in as an ice pack for my sore head (I did have a killer headache for most of the morning, but a nap fixed that up).
Since turn about is fair play, she had to have her check up too. Dr Mummy is in the house!
After we'd finished there, it was time to try to build a gingerbread house. We were given a kit at Christmas, but didn't have the time to put it together then, so it was stashed away til later. Amie found it this week and insisted we give it a go. Unfortunately, some of the pieces had broken, which meant we couldn't quite make a house. I'd also made the icing too thick and it was too hard to pipe out, so we decided to decorate some pieces as they were instead.
Amie thought it was a great success and very, very delicious.
She's come up with some good ideas over the last few days too, such as this:
Amie: Where do unicorns live?
Me: In the forest?
Amie: No, they live in Ice Cream Land!
And her ideas on recycling include "When something is old, turn it into something new!" She hasn't yet explained how she'll go about doing that, but I like her enthusiasm.
