I don't even know.
Amie the Busy Buzzing Bee!
She's getting the hang of swinging herself (kick and tuck, kick and tuck), but I think she likes to chant it rather than do it.
Then there's the school of thought that says this is the right way to do it.
Getting some more superhero training in.
I often joke that we're so pale we glow in the dark, but apparently we glow in the daytime too!
I found the grass too cold to stand on, but I guess her feet - which are actually icicles - are made of stronger stuff than mine.
We went to this awesome park on Thursday for a playdate with Darius and his mum Helen. This was a Very Exciting Adventure for Amie, so we dressed appropriately.
I asked for a superhero pose, and this is what I got.
I got the supervillain look for free!
The kids opted to start off with riding their bikes (both choosing to bring their tricycles rather than their two wheelers) through the special streets here. I LOVE this. Stop signs, roundabouts, speed bumps, it's a fantastic little set up.
Waiting for traffic to clear.
Even turning the right way!
Once they'd had enough of their bikes, we headed over to the Kidspace fort. It is an amazing play space, great for kids of all ages.
Peekaboo!
I was really impressed with how well all the kids there played together, given that most of them were strangers to each other. I lost count of the amount of times a half dozen of them would come tumbling down the slide together, giggling madly the whole time. After a while, Amie and Darius decided they wanted to fly a kite. Given our complete failure to do this at home the other day, I was hoping Helen was better at it than I was.
And she was! The kids happily chased after the kite (which seemed intent on attacking me), and both of them took turns to fly it. I think I'll need to practice some more so we can do it ourselves.
After a while the kids lost interest in the kite and wanted to go back to riding their bikes. Amie made friends with this boy, who was happy to swap vehicles for a while. It was her first time on a scooter, and she did quite well at it! Steering was an issue, but I'm sure that's something that'd be learnt with time.
The only downside to the day was when Amie went to use the toilet at the park and the seat bit her, leaving a mark just over an inch long on the back of her thigh. It pinched enough to bleed sightly at one end, and made her too scared to climb up by herself. So I lifted her up, put her on the seat...and she promptly fell in. First time that's happened! I guess that I put her back too far, but at least she saw the funny side of it all.
I was quite jealous to hear that Darius had fallen asleep in the car only a few minutes after they dropped us at home (we were out for about two hours), as Amie was wide awake and requesting I cook some sausages, with some fruit salad to tide her over while she waited. She's quite firm in what she wants!
