She saw this pattern when I was collecting crochet patterns and asked me to make it for her. She's a dragon!
Weddings have definitely been on Amie's mind a lot lately - any time she has flowers, basically. After playing with her new Barbie toys in the last update, she married Barbie. It wasn't until after the wedding that she found out Barbie was a zombie, but that didn't bother her too much. Another time, she
I was asked to come into her bird shop, so that I could buy a pet. I found her all set up with the register and display cages on her night stand...
See? Birds! They're pretty cheap to feed and easy to care for, though the one in the middle will get loud at times.
The other morning, during breakfast, she turned to me and gestured expansively while saying quite firmly "I. Love. YOU", before turning back to her food. Ain't she sweet?
One of the rewards on her rewards chart for sleeping in her bed properly was to go to the movies, so off we went to see Cars 2. She'd been asking to go for months so when the time came, she was almost beside herself with excitement. After I woke up that morning, I heard her say "I'm going to the movies today!" from her bedroom. She did really well through the movie, and only had to go pee twice. She's already asking to go see something else!
Everyone needs a little red wagon. She's had this for years but has recently started playing with it more.
Cupboards in the kitchen are to keep your cooking supplies, right? Pots, pans, lids, mixers...
or it's a handy place to keep your kids. I've never really used that space for anything, so a long time back Amie decided it was the perfect place for her to hide. Or just hang out. She likes to sit in there. Weirdo.
Being a scientist and explaining the mysteries of life.
I was playing around with makeup for the first time in years, and when she saw me she squealed and covered her face. She didn't like the makeup on me, not because it was done badly or I looked scary, she just likes my "real lips" better and thinks I look prettier without it. It was a bit of a surprise for her to see me with it on, as she was a year or so when I last wore it, I think. It's nice to know she likes me as I am :)
That's a shivering frog in a snowstorm, in case you were wondering.
She went to a friend's birthday party, and made him the above card. Our flatmate Doug took her, as the birthday boy is his godson, and I got some all too infrequent me time at home. On the way, Amie was sure that Doug was completely lost and asked if he knew where he was going, as the last time they went to Darius's house (which was a year ago) they went a different way in the car. She also told him off saying that they were going around in circles and should have been there by now. They did go a different way than last time, so I'm very surprised she remembers that! She has an amazingly good memory when she wants to.
One of her big interests these days is feeding the birds. We tried with bread but couldn't convince any of them to get close enough. I bought the bird seed bell for the backyard, but I may have to move it as it doesn't seem to be getting any attention even though lots of birds hang out in that tree.
Bug eyes help see the birds, apparently. Well, it works for bugs!
Spreading some seed in the front yard.
Waiting for them to fly on in and feed.
Being a typical child, she's not the neatest person around. I asked her what we were going to do about her mess problem,
She found the tray from her long unused potty and decided it would make a good toy. She insisted I take a photo of her with it.
It's a pillow! It's a pet! It's a pillow pet! She fell in love with them when she saw the ad on TV, and insists on singing it a lot. I found one at Toyworld (for much cheaper than what the ad was selling them for) and that made her day. It hasn't stopped her singing the song, though.
A dog!
A giraffe!
A flower!
I have the power!
Amie brought the mail in the other day, which consisted of junk mail and one package. She asked if it was for her, and lo and behold it was! Grandma Brenda had sent her a balloon animals kit, and Amie insisted I make her many, many animals. I'd never made them before so I wasn't sure if I could, but I did pretty well I think.
She then told me she wanted me to make her a unicorn and handed me the above picture. To make the other animals I'd been following the instructions on the back of the pack. She told me she drew the picture for me so I'd know how to do it, and I'd just have to follow the 'structions to get it right. I did end up googling for it, but didn't quite get it right. It's nice that she has faith in me, though!
On the back of the unicorn picture she wrote down the music for Baa Baa Black Sheep, and we read that while playing the song on various instruments.
We do have very strange conversations around here. I'm not sure if everyone with a four year old has conversations like these, but these happen a lot.
Amie: Mummy, I'm hungry.
Me: What would like to eat?
Amie: Um....pillows!
Me: Okay, but I'm not cooking it. You can eat it raw.
Amie: Awww.
She was drawing on her whiteboard this morning and told me she'd made a sign. It was a bunch of letters and apparently it read "I will smack you on the face, kill you in the bum, sit on you and fart until you die."
She said someone did that to her father last week. She followed this up with more letters that said "Amie, I love you", just to make sure I think she's still cute, I'm sure. She's still completely obsessed with farts, and thinks it's incredibly funny to fart on me. That's a game I don't encourage at all, which means we're in disagreement about whether it's something she should keep doing. So if she happens to sit on you or lean up against you, be warned - she might be preparing to fart.
