This is Halloween...just a little early

Though we're nearing the middle of winter, the weather hasn't been consistently cold. While it hasn't neared the temperatures of the warmer months, Miss thought it would be good to dress in some summer pyjamas.

They're still way too big for her, but that just means she can wear them for longer!

She's been in dress up mode for a lot of this week, which was helpful to me, as I've been sick with another cold and dressing up is easy entertainment. She told me she going to visit Halloween, so first up was the Princess look:

Complete with a doll's blanket for a hat!

That soon changed into an accidental superhero outfit:

I have no idea why she put her knickers on over her leggings.

Though she didn't get them on right (not a usual occurrence!), so it looks like she needs to repeat Superhero Costumes 101.

We took a break in the dress ups yesterday because a Big Event happened - her Big Girl Bed finally arrived. She's been waiting almost patiently for this for a few days now. For months she's been telling me she hates her bed, though I'm pretty sure that was a ploy to get out of going to bed, as that was the only time she mentioned it. Still, she'd been sleeping in a toddler bed for about two years, so it was time to upgrade.

There's a bed AND a mattress in those boxes!

Some forty minutes later, it was all done! She had a choice over blankets and opted for the sleeping bag.

But like children everywhere, she had more fun with the box than the actual item.

Some boxes, some toys - instant pirate ship!

Once she was done sailing the high seas, it was back to playing dress ups.

It wasn't midnight, but it was pumpkin time.

It may have been the excitement of the new bed, or that she really was that tired, but she asked to go to bed just after 5pm! I really wasn't sure if she was playing or serious, but after going through the usual bedtime routine (including getting out of bed once before sticking), she was asleep before 6! I guess the bed is a hit. Now to get her those pink sheets she desperately wants...

  2. They are indeed! She did pull the mattress box on, but soon learnt she couldn't quite do anything with it on. I might turn it into a robot later...

I wish I could play with boxes....

  4. You can still play with them! Fridge boxes are the best, closely followed by washing machine boxes. There's so much you can do with them.
